No turkey on Thanksgiving

With a family down with flu like symptoms and a unexpected work load from hell, our Thanksgiving celebration didn't really turn out to plan. But then we usually don't have that many plans.

Thanksgiving - one of the biggest holidays in the US - is a tricky one when you're an alien. I still don't have a real relationship with this holiday - and since we're both Swedish - we have no clear guiding. I have no clue how you get those huge turkeys ready. What I almost like most about it is that it's the start of Christmas... once the turkey meal is finished, you can start get your house ready for the next holiday - my favorite!

I'm so ready for a Christmas break after this intense and crazy fall - just bring it on!

But Thanksgiving is really one of the nicest holidays there is! The message is nice and inclusive and there are no expensive gifts or things that have to be bought or given.

En stor kalkon till två pers blir liksom too much.

We had chicken as we prefer it.

My hubby said that when he bought it in Safeway, the guy on the till said "Turkey for one then?" Lol! A) It was a chicken and B) We had a normal size one as two of our kids (and me) don't eat much of it.
Hubby said,he felt quite depressed at that comment! Lol!

TT - oh, yes I agree! I like the whole concept - it's just that I feel so lost... I had hoped that I would set some new traditions this year - but it turned out to be mostly work and sick people around...

Britgirl - I don't mind turkey (we usually have it on Christmas Day) - but then we're used to the small, tiny, Swedish ones... ;-)
