The summer house where I'm staying have broadband (and actually wi-fi). Thankfully. Imagine five weeks without internet...And since old habits are hard to break, and the news paper is delivered to the post box on the mainland and someone needs to take the boat to get it, I've done my quick "news-check" online, long before I read the paper newspaper.
And even though I really enjoy reading a Swedish newspaper, holding the actual paper, reading ads and news stories that never made the online editions, it sort of feels like I'm reading old news... News that has been printed hours before. All the things that could have happened since it ended up in the post box...
But then, who cares. I can sit in the sun and read Swedish news (not having to try to read them on the screen), old or new, for four more weeks.

I can get that "old news" feeling too soemtimes when I read our daily paper in teh mornings. I guess we just live in such a fast world, we are so used to being fed new information rapidly all the time. The paper was after all, printed in the early morning hours... A LOT can happen after that, right?! ;-)
Every so often i get my poor old dad to buy a newspaper from my old hometown and he then pays 4 or 5 times the cost then to send it here!!
Its usually when they do a special edition on the area or there's snow pictures in it or something.
It takes him about two or three weeks to get around to send it and a further week in the post!
Now THATS old news!!!
Det är det som är sommar!!! Att sitta och läsa en papperstidning! Underbart!
Visserligen har jag papperstidning här också, men det är på sommaren det är extra skönt. Fast där vi är om somrarna kommer de svenska tidningarna dagen efter...SO snacka om Yesterday's news...Oh well!
KUL ändå att din mamma har bredband. Fattar inte hur det ska gå när jag kommer till sommarstugen...Inget bredband, eller ens moidem, i sikte där inte...
Vad härligt att läsa svenska dagstidningar i sommarstugan. När jag är hemma läser jag ALLT i tidningen, snacka om att frukosten varar för evigt. Det är väl typiskt svenskt, att sitta vid frukostbordet och läsa tidningen. Det finns en scen i den gamla filmen Adam och Eva där de inte snackar med varandra utan bara räcker smöret och osten fram och tillbaka utan att slita sig från tidningsdelarna... kul! Och det är alltid diskussion om vilken del man ska få läsa först!
Jag vill också åka hem nu!!
Sweflo - yes, things have really changed. And especially here, when we usually read the newspaper later in the morning (since we have to get it by boat), it feels older.
Miranda - yes, but isn't it soo much fun to read newspapers from home. You don't care that things happened so long ago, you read the ads and look at the pictures too!
Annika - ja, det är vääälidigt lyxigt med bredband. Inte för jag alls hinner sitta mycket (vilket märks på att jag inte hinner svara på kommentarer eller göra bloggrundor), det är intensivt här - men det är skönt när det går fort när man sitter och bara att man KAN. Lyx!
Petra H - ja, man läser verkligen ALLT och inte blir det sämre av hönökaka, leverpastej och grevéost på frukostbordet. Ja, haha - den scenen är rolig!
