Christmas is over and New Year's Eve is approaching. When I was a kid in Sweden we used to decorate the Christmas tree the day before Christmas Eve and then kept it until after "Trettondagsafton" (January 5). On year I even insisted on keeping the tree until my birthday in mid-January. Not much left of that tiny Swedish Christmas tree by then...Now, I prefer to decorate the Christmas tree early in December and then clean out Christmas before New Year's, just like they do here.
So today we spent the day cleaning out Christmas, putting the tree on the curb, to be picked up by the boy scouts. And the house smells fresh and clean. One year until we unpack those boxes with Christmas stuff again!
